We have been retained to find a strong hardwood operations leader to head up a manufacturing division for a client with multiple sawmill and dry kiln operations.
This is diversified company involved in different facets of the hardwood industry. Well-capitalized, privately-held, but not a P.E. company, and a company that has been very aggressive in adapting to face the challenging and changing conditions facing the industry right now…including making tough, even painful, decisions when appropriate. They do have some key strategic advantages over a number of hardwood competitors – they continue to enjoy very strong Domestic markets with long-term customers, their share of export sales to China was limited, and while valuable was not critical to their overall success. They also have the advantage in this market of being able to limit the amount of Red Oak and Cherry they have to produce. They are simply better positioned than many competitors to survive current conditions and be prepared to face the challenges and opportunities of the new future.
We are looking for someone with strong communication and analytical skills and a proven ability to motivate people to achieve organizational results. Experience managing multi-plant operations would be wonderful, but they are very open to someone who is leading a significant-size, single site who is ready and interested in the next step up to run a division.
Someone excited about an opportunity to step into a key leadership role with a company well-positioned to survive – and thrive.
